Berean Africa Mission Update

Dear friend,

It was great to serve the Kenyan people along the coast this year and see God move in such mighty ways!  He is faithful to fulfill the plan that He calls us to join Him in!

Even though we had a small team this year, I feel God was orchestrating that it was time for the local leaders and church members to step in and take on some of the sites this year.  Those are key signs that the 5-year vision of Model-Assist-Watch-Leave is nearing the latter end of the scale.  Exciting stuff.

Even though I, Chad, will not be returning next year, I am glad to report that the Berean Fellowship is committed to continue the work along the coast moving towards the north and E3 SportReach has a great leader in Rick Larsen to move the vision forward, with the full support of Darby as the Kenya and Africa US Director.

As a whole, the team was able share with over 300, see over 100 come to Christ and most importantly be back in the homes of 51 families.  This, along with multiple POPs (People Of Peace: Luke 10) at most sites was a big encouragement.

Micheal Omega, thank you for all you efforts for the team this year and for your continued follow-up work along the Coast.  Rev. Joe, we miss you and pray that your recovery is quick and complete!

All, thanks to all for your sacrifice and vision for the Kingdom work in Kenya!

Mungu Akubariki Sana!

Return report – Kenya expedition

“…because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.  And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”  -Philippians 1:5-6

This is our prayer that the work that was begun in the hearts of so many will blossom and be brought to completion.

With the internet being such a challenge this year, we did not get the chance to share as many updates as we hoped, so here is a little catch up…hope you enjoy seeing how God is moving on the continent of Africa…

The trip started with us behind…delayed flights found me sleeping on the floor of the Denver airport just a 2 hours car ride from home and then on an alternate itinerary with a 15 layover in Frankfurt.  Almost a 3rd of the team had to start this way so it was an interesting way to begin.  With all the air travel we do we know this is always a possibility…

So we had to hit the ground running with the short amount of time we have to equip and encourage the nationals we work with and complete the campaign we do in the villages. This year found us returning to the coastal region of Kenya and many of the veterans were excited to continue the work that had been started there 3 years ago.  We had the chance to connect with many Kenyan friends and bring the message of hope to many in new villages.

We also focused on meeting needs within the communities using sports and educational programs centered around Malaria, HIV/AIDS and combating trafficking.  The US team was a small but strong team which allowed us to start many of the activities right away.  A first for this year was the construction of two all local-national teams that took on two of the sites for the week.  Seeing them hit the field was a fulfillment of many years of answered prayers.

In total we had the chance to share with over 300 people and over 100 gave their life to Christ.  We focus much of our efforts in discipling the new believers and we were able to return to 51 homes to spend time in the scriptures learning how to discuss and obey God’s Word.  We also had the chance to share with hundreds of kids through sports.
